The John Baggs Memorial Scholarship was established to award scholarship funding to a student who
demonstrates a commitment to community service and creative ability in the area of advertising,
public relations, or journalism. This $2000 scholarship will be awarded to an incoming first year
student who meets the criteria listed below:
Scholarship criteria:
- Applicant must be an entering undergraduate student who will be enrolled full-time in the traditional day program at The College of St. Scholastica in 2010-2011;
- Student must have a High School GPA of 3.20 or higher;
- Student must demonstrate leadership potential;
- Student must demonstrate outstanding community service;
- Student must demonstrate participation in high school activities;
- Student must demonstrate creative ability in the area of advertising, public relations, and/or journalism;
- Student must demonstrate skilled writing ability
Renewal requirements: The John Baggs Memorial Scholarship may be renewed for up to
three years providing the student meets the criteria listed below.
- Student must maintain a College GPA of 3.20 or higher;
- Student must remain a full-time traditional undergraduate student at St. Scholastica;
- Student must demonstrate involvement with at least one of the following:
- The Cable (Student newspaper at the College of St. Scholastica);
- The Sports Information Department at the College of St. Scholastica;
- Game Management at the College of St. Scholastica and/or
- Broadcasting at the College of St. Scholastica
- Significant participation in Community Service (document date, time, name of event, contact person)
The requirements listed above must be fulfilled for scholarship renewal. Failure to complete any of the
above requirements will result in the loss of the scholarship. By signing below, you are agreeing to the
requirements listed above, and understand that failure to complete any of the requirements will result in
loss of the scholarship.
